This facility is a member of the Arizona Aerospace Foundation and is located at 6000 East Valencia Road, phone 520-574-0462 or www.pimaair.org It is the world's largest non- government funded aerospace museum. The revenue required to keep the museum open is generated through gate-receipts, gift shop sales, memberships, donations and grants. The Pima Air & Space Museum opened in 1975 at which time it house 75 aircraft. It has expanded over the years and currently houses 250 aircraft and occupies 80 acres of land. As a whole, the entire museum property covers 150 acres. Tours of the museum are available as indeed are tours of the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Centre located on Davis-Monthan Airforce Base. These tours can be booked at the museum, last approximately one hour and continue to be very popular. It should be noted that anyone over the age of 16 will be required to show Government issued identification before admittance to the Airforce Base. There is a library in house containing over over 10000 volumes, manuals, periodicals and government documents. As well as traditional exhibits, Pima Air & Space Museum is proud to present Morphis! This is a movie-ride which does not disappoint, offering a choice of experiences such as high-speed low-level flying, and emergency landing on an aircraft carrier! A tram tour is available to see the facility from the comfort of your seat, and when you return you might like to get a bite to eat at The Thunderbird Café, which serves hamburgers, hot dogs, fries and beverages throughout the day. Opening hours are 0900-1700 daily with last admission at 1600hrs. The museum is open every day of the year with the exception of Christmas & Thanksgiving.
