Like many American cities, Tuscon can be best explored if you have your own transport. We are happy to recommend our sister site for Car Rental in Tucson. However, dont be put off if you are relying on public transport. Information on the bus service, Sun Tran Buses is available at 520-792-9222. At Tucson International Airport, there is a visitor information centre at the baggage claim where brochures are available about Tuscon in general, and how to get about. Many Tucson hotels offer a shuttle service from the airport. Taxis are of course available and the airport is eight miles south of downtown Tuscon. The fare would normally be no more than $20. Another option is to use Arizona Stagecoach which is a 24 hour van service ferrying visitors from the airport to the hotels in downtown Tucson and the resorts in the foothills. They can be contacted at 520-889-1000, and you will find them right outside the centre of the baggage claim area. For guided tours around Tuscon, contact Great Western Tours at 520-572-1660. They offer a three hour city tour as well as a number of more extensive tours. A good idea is to make a stop at Tuscon's downtown visitor centre early in your stay. From here, you can glean all the information you need to plan your time, and obtain free maps and useful information. The visitor centre is located at 110 S. Church Avenue and can be contacted at 520-624- 1817 or 1-800-638-8350 between the hours of 0800-1700 from Monday to Friday, and from 0900-1600hrs at the weekend. |
